Fell out of high school in the late sixties,
Grew my hair down long thought I was gifted.
Wore Split leather tassles long and soft,
To a sick system sent a message hot

Free love on call to corporate business,
Protesting wars lacking kindred.
Freedom chants in an opium blizzard,
With swords of love to heal the blisters.

Chorus:
The grass and the sun and the flower child,
Stood on the pier where the storm blows wild.
Under the stars in the purple haze,
Electric guitars and poets played.

Same old war crimes stopped the building,
Taking thier toll on the helpless children.
Into the mist small voices cried,
Together sounding like a million knights.

With dust and rust on sacred plowshears,
Rockwell's covers cried out in fear.
But then the message reached the source,
Uncle Sam's henchmen changed thier course.

Chorus:
The grass and the sun and the flower child,
Stood on the pier where the storm blows wild.
Under the stars in the purple haze,
Electric guitars and poets played.

Out of a nation clothed with steel
Came a story of passion over the field.
Gears of destruction made a retreat,
The fashion for power suffered defeat.

Imbibed with wrong imbibed with right,
Democratic heroes died in their plight.
Embarrassed nations left war torn fields,
and discarded sons that never healed.

Eric

I was going to college in San Francisco in the early 60's, a child with such ideals, some of which I still own.  The words to your song are poetry, the poem, a song.  Peace to you, my friend.

I know you're still a flower child and one with a beautiful heart and I thank you for the kind words I really appreciate them.

I was born in 69 so that came before me...but I loved the 70's! The 80's kinda sucked.
