Do you remember the day we met?
No, I thought not.
For you were walking on easy street,
and I was in the alleyway.
You offered yourself proudly
to the glaring lights,
unaware of the blurrred edges
that blend silently into
the curtained darkness.
And I just stood there,
hidden behind a veil of adoration,
afraid of the bright lights
and the reflection of you.
Do you remember that night?
No, I thought not.
You were the glow on the stage.
You knew the golden stairway
was yours for the taking.
And me?
I was part of the backstage,
with the other props.
But when you stepped down
and smiled, the moment was mine.
Do you remember the day we met?

I once wanted to do a photo series titled, Perspectives...Yours and Mine.  This would have been the perfect poetic compliment.

Kacy,

I enjoy the depth of this piece. Much more powerful than it would at first seem, with first reading.

It captures a disturbing situation I've gone through. Almost forgotten until I read this. Though not emotional for me now, it brought out my worse character defects trying to deal with it then. Interesting how that works. Does that person remember me now? No, NOT quite yet! Time has a way of righting a lot of wrongs, if we just step back and let nature take her course. There is justice. Sometimes we get lucky enough to see it, sometimes, not.

I am keeping this because I ~feel~ like you wrote it just for me.

Thank you,

Hugs and warm regards, Pat

Duncan, feel free to use it, I'd be honored.
Salty, glad you liked this memory jog.
Shadows, heart hugs to all who have been left in the wings.
Pat, you're always left wondering 'what if....' Sometimes memories are better left in the closed closet.
Ron, so true, so true.

There are many nights
that I don't remember

or remember.....
incorrectly.

I like this pensive write.

(laughing at Ed's reply)....

Kacy, I could feel a lot of emotions "between the lines" in this one. I know that writing about things in our past helps and I'm sure this helped you, too.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, friend.

This struck a strident chord in my heart! I am glad to say that that out-of-tune song no longer plays in my heart--or my mind!

Great piece of writing!

Wow!!! Oh Kacy, it is interesting how sometimes the tone of such a memory can go from E to F Minor, yet such a memory should never be forgotten anyhow! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
