What To Do,
What To Say

The lights are dying down once more,
Children’s smiles fade.
A blanket shields their untouched eyes,
Until the horrors drift away.

A single, lonely body,
With a tear stricken face.
As the wicked smiles laugh at us,
We all turn away.

The voice grows in volume,
And soon we know the name.
Fewer stand up for us,
While more drift away.

I can here them crying,
My tears join them too,
I can’t help but smiling,
When I see they have you.

Sitting alone and waiting,
For my prince to take me away,
But what if it doesn’t happen,
And I waste my life away?

What is there left for us?
While it all fade’s away.
The smile leaves the innocent,
To find its own way.

The colour turns to black and white,
The sound drifts away.
All that’s left is the two of us,
And one walks away.

An extended hand,
And friendly smile,
Just what we all need,
But is it really here with us,
Or has it gone away?

I can see your smile,
And I can’t help but knowing,
That what was once,
Is back with us today.

I don’t know what to say to you,
Or what you want to hear.
I know I’m doing something wrong,
But I know no other way.

I don’t remember how we were,
Or what we want to be.
All I know is there’s something wrong,
With how we are today.

You tell me it will get better,
And we will smile today,
But what happens when tonight comes,
And tears are all that stay?

You tell me that you love me,
You tell me that it’s true,
But how can I believe you,
When all you say is words?

I know you say your trying,
But I tell you I am too,
You tell me that I’m lying,
I tell you that its true.

I don’t know how to win this,
Or what I want to gain,
All I can say to you,
Is to take it day by day.

Touchy subject for sure. I hope you can find a way. sometimes it requires an exhausting effort which is an unatractive thought but a commitmant often leads to reward.

I think this is poignant, and i applaud you for your honesty , in a matter regarded by many as "touchy"... but...if we don't speak, who will listen? thank you
