Never Ending Pain

This ache is like a bruise,
an underlying pressure
rupturing until it seeks
my hearts direction,
planting itself in the center
of my being.

The damage is done,
wounded deep
squeezing these tears,
two this morning
side by side, having their own race
against time.
Warmth against coolness
down the slopes of a cheek,
one that would prefer
the touch of lips to this.

Each day, I hope it
to be the last of, wishing to
restrain myself from biting back
only to leave more pain, then
needing to burnish,
until I am raw.

Never ending it seems,
this life of limits, never mine
in the making.
If only to arrest this feeling,
and seize the day,
to be able to recapture
that softness, the part of me
you took into custody
and are holding for ransom...

M

Maureen, you never fail to make me hold my breath for a moment while reading your heart. Emotions overflowing onto blue.

The angst of an abandoned lover is as bittersweet as any feeling we possess.  You catch that so well.  KJ

One's vision is often so clear after a tearing. Wish I knew how to advise in getting rid of the grasp. Enjoyed
