Where no tyranny is tolerable

Visitation From The Dream Goddess
1:
It is evening
In 1971.
We live in Monterey.
I eat a hamburger,
Listening
to Casey Casum’s A T 40.
I didn’t know
That we could listen to it locally.
I suppose
It must be coming in by satellite.

2:
I wake
In a Mexican jail cell.
Mother says to hurry and get dressed.
She is telling the police
Why they should let me go.
They finally let me out of jail
On condition that we leave the country.
I am wearing
A pair of old, moth-eaten sandals,
Walking on a rickety foot-bridge,
Crossing to the Texas side,
When suddenly I’m in a vehicle,
Roaring at full throttle,
Racing round and round in circles
On the bridge.
I hear the sound behind us
Of pursuing motorcycles,
Also racing circles
On the bridge.
I catch the putrid stench
Of turgid, muddy river water
And the fear of drowning.
What if we fall off? ..
We then come to a stop.

3:
The chasing motorcycles
Turn out to be
The Mexican police.
The police had changed their mind,
Were trying to arrest us,
And now arrest us for resisting arrest.
An officer is having trouble
Putting on the handcuffs,
So I hold out both arms
To help him,
And they walk me back to Mexico
By chain.
My old and rotten sandals have disintegrated,
And so, instead of walking,
I start flying through the air.

Sound: The Beach Boys
Just Send Our Mail
To The Tijuana Jail …

Jaime

Today’s aphorism:
The road to construction
Is always under success.

ROTFL. Sharon is right. It's another pizza dream laced with Mescal. Not to mention you were riding in an Edsel.
Jaime, it's time to toss away those mothy sandals to JM's discard pile and get some serious snow bunny booties, then trip the Christmas lights fantastic. tlksn
