A quarter to midnight, the ceiling stares back,
locked in a pact with two crying eyes;
staggering suddenly to a corner of space
as a cheek punctures warm-dewed pillows beside.

Ten past the hour, should be later than this
when minutes of thought traverse hours of tears;
silence rebounds across five solid walls
as late-night radio clocks through the gears.

Semblance of reason as I walk to the window,
a dulled panoramic restoring the dark;
pebbles glow orange down on planetary pavements-
streetlights are stars too heavy to spark.

The artist's survey broken by chill
and a stumble as shadows turn back to the bed,
the pulse suffocates to a regular count
as a girl named insomnia rests in my head.

Excellent images and a peek into that sleepless haunting when time stands still--enjoyed!

This is fabulous, in fact I do this every night...smiling here....
