Awakened by the rain that tapped on my window
I pulled away the curtain that
hid the clouded day.

...Morning had risen in disguise ...

I walked to the back porch and held my
hands to the cleansing.
Opening my mouth to the quenching of thirst
I ran bare foot through the wet grass.

In soaked clinging gown, I turned circles
reaching for the hidden sky
dancing in celebration.

This day had given me permission to relax
to sit beside the fireplace
to light scented candles

Combing the rain from my hair
watching the water drip from my wet gown,
I sit with a glass of white wine.

Warming from the inside out.

I can so identify with this! These treasured moments of carefree abandon!

Delightful poem!

~ May you have many moments such as this one that you so aptly described!

It's not raining here, but overcast. And this is what I'm doing. ('cept for the fireplace) pout.

Thanks for this "release" of a read.

Delightful! I love to run and splash in the rain. Maybe that's why I like water fowl? The ducks and loons are my friends.
And wet gowns warmed from the inside out? Great imagery here.

Earth Angel
You need days of permission from time to time.  Don't have to feel guilty about enjoying ourselves.

Thanks for reading

I really loved this Salty, reminds me of those walks in the rain i used to take to clear my head. Nothing like a good rain to get in touch with nature and life. Then again i'm slightly mad so maybe it's just me.

This is the first of yours I've had the pleasure of reading and must say that I very much enjoyed it.   You've got me wanting a rainy day.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Oh, me too. I want a rainy day to go play in and twirl.  Only way a rainy day is better is if you have a lover to share it with.

I love this poem. It is delightful.
