My winter treks roll out like carpets
sauntered o'er neatly packed frozen leaves
white crusts, familiar hexangonal flakes
that coat the threads and footsteps I tread...
my ideal to find a book of books
and carry my thoughts through winter storms
allow my conscience to absorb fresh fodder?
but with tainted contents..sometimes I wonder
why bother?

Why is there the urgency
to trace existing paths?
shaped with construction overshoes
and frequent neoclassically columed archives
where worker bees attend the queen of her hive
and books of great minds are long overdue
pause in front of a neoclassical facades
ornate interiors laden with chosen books
and ask myself what good history is
when it is washed free of implications
knowledge inhaled as truth
and misconstrued has me sad...

My winter treks find comfort in the snow
that blow over previous deposited sediments...
white flakes and the mystery of endless shapes
carry my thoughts away from literary purposes
behold I am back to the land of the trapper
the law of the fang...tales of bitter chills
away from institutional books
to unchartered ideals?

Very well put and thought provoking. I used to dream of being a politician and giving speeches to save the world. Now, I too am comfortable with different thoughts. Thank you.

I love this post, ecrivan. A beyond-Walden Pond quest. Outstanding! Another excellent write to ponder. Into my library this goes.

Robert,

And I had a dream of being asked to speak in
front of a large gathering...your welcome.

Midnite,

rather ordinary wording but it does say much
