I Have Lived

A thousand visions flood my eyes
Of past and present evening skies
As falling sunbeams shed sweet light
On day’s last hour and brink of night

With every dawn that lights the earth
Comes once again the soul’s rebirth
Between my edge of the night and day
Joy’s gleam of eye is on display

With every season comes the change
That life and fate both rearrange
As blue of sky turns into rain
How well I know that bitter pain

Both grief and joy a web invites
The deepest depth, the highest heights
I’ve known the best and worst that comes
And both come out in equal sums

A hand cupped with desire was such
I learned love was the softest touch
On lifetime’s lips I’ve tasted of
The wine of truth, the sip of love

Each moment in a grain of sand
Slipped softly through my laden hand
So tenderly and finely sieved
I know for certain I have lived

...On lifetime’s lips I’ve tasted of
The wine of truth, the sip of love...

...So tenderly and finely sieved
I know for certain I have lived...

Oh yes, yes, and you have written of it so well...
as you cast and write again, and keep us in your spell...

Indeed you have lived and continue to live with grace, dignity, wisdom and beauty--which you so generously share with your readers through your fine poetry!

See, I was right!

Liz - You're ever able to see things in a light that compliments your wisdom and kindness, your strength and your heart. You've captured that again with the recognition many fail to achieve... yes, you have lived.

Liz, how graciously you write these words. There is such humbling when I read each of your poems and get to know you through them.

You live with love and dignity and an appreciation of life around you. You are indeed blessed.

With admiration, hugs, Marti
