Thanks?  For what?  Why?
After all, all we seem to do is bicker,
fuss, fight with each other, denigrate,
humiliate, harass and so much more.

Why?   Why give thanks?
When taxes are levied, gas goes up..
when Congress can’t make a call
and the Senate took a vacation,
when life seems so filled with
indecision, mistrust and envy.

I’ll tell ya why.....

Because I can sit here and tell ya.
Because we have technology that allows us to.
Because I can walk outside any hour of the
day, and look into a sky filled with stars,
breath fresh air and tell my neighbor hello.

Because I have all I need, perhaps not all I
want, but no one tells me I can’t do it my way.
There are no trains loading up human cordwood,
nor are there bombs falling on cities, day after
day as freedom is threatened...

The ports are not filled with ships of war leaving
with tears streaming onboard and on the docks.
There are no ships returning with the thousands
of dead .....  Filling the ground rapidly with
white stones above them...

Mothers are not sitting, looking out a window,
a blank stare in their eye, praying that black car
doesn’t pull up, to say what they fear to hear....

I give thanks to my forefathers,   to our grandfathers,
grandmothers and our parents.....For without them,
WE, all of us might be sitting somewhere that isn’t
our home, eating some drivel, awaiting our turn to
burn......

Thank you, all of you who cannot read my words...
As well as those that can....  For this day, for my
family and for the freedom that is so precious
to me....

Happy Thanksgiving to all..........

Yes, there's much to be thankful for and things could always be worse.......appreciate the notion and that at this moment there is peace. Happy day to you and yours.

I read the beginning of this poem with a bit of trepidation! Oh, my! Magnus is talking like a turkey! Gobbling up all the good cheer! But in my heart, I knew you would be making a point in the latter part!--and man, oh, man, did you ever!

Bravo! You made me want to stand up and sing our national anthem--for what you wrote of applies to our standard of living here in Canada as well!

God bless you, your friends and family, and the wonderful American (and Canadian) way of life!

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, and if we can all just live Thanksgiving as if it was everyday, maybe we can finally end this madness, desolation, lechery, and live on the simple beauties with our loved ones and as spiritual brothers and sisters! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
