As I sat there and watched
I saw the Show slowly unfold
then I listened as well
to hear the words left untold
and the lies within the lives
of those poor wretched souls
who've been imprisoned since youth
within the life they'd been sold
and they can't escape now
because they think they're too old

So they sit back and watch
to see the Show slowly unfold
then they listen as well
to hear the words left untold
and the lies within the lives
of the poor youthful souls
who want something for nothing
and are, themselves, the ones sold
only to learn their mistake
as they too slowly grow old

Now you sit here and watch
you'll see the Show slowly unfold
if you'll listen, as well
you'll hear the words left untol
and the lies within the lives
of the misguided souls
who've come here to bargain
for more power and gold
though it is never enough
to replace what they've sold
because, in spite of it all
they can't stop growing old.

This is the latest version of an old poem.
It is a re-write of one of my originals.
It doesn't fit the season, but it fits my life now.

P.S.  Happy Thanksgiving to All.

the repetition makes it hit home...

old or not, it's written well.

I enjoyed the flow of this; it is well written and a thinking piece.

Have a good day...

Hope the season gets to you before the day is out, feeling trapped and too old to change circumstances is too sad, anytime, but especially today.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Well... I happen to know how old you are... and that there's still time to turn those lies to truths... and through poetry like this you've taken some veritable steps, m'friend...

Thank You All,

What a wonderful feeling I got when I came here and saw all these encouraging words from all you beautiful people.
I wish I could spend more time here among you fine folk.

P.S.
Nan, this isn't about me, it's an observation of the world around me.
Drop me a line some time, I'll tell you all about it.
