Sit back and hear my story that I dearly want to tell,
Of how I made a brand new friend, and I think that is swell!

I was walking down a path just minding my own biz,
When I met a gentle tree just swaying in the wind.

Amid all of the other trees, this one held my eye.
I felt in love with this old tree, and yes! I wondered why!

So up to it I crept and leaned upon it so I did,
I felt in love with this old tree, in love with it's spirit!

The beauty of this woodland creature's spirit made me sigh,
It's leafless branches! On they sway, still reaching for the sky!

People walking by me saw and took me as a fool,
As I hugged this tree of mine, I didn't look that cool!

I didn't care however, peering up at leafless grey,
This tree I met on this fine day did take my pain away.

"Thank you", I whispered to the living thing I held so tight,
"Thank you, my friend, for being a tree! You made me feel alright!"

So now on every day when I happen to walk on by,
I'll see the brand new friend I've made and lovingly say "Hi!"

I have sent you nothing but angels, and I have placed nothing but miracles before you.

What a special poem that comes along with a special title.  Recently I hugged a tree too and I loved that wonderful feeling!

trees truly are inspirational.
the way they stand throughout the seasons,
gracefully accepting whatever is bestowed on
them........

Whether real, imagined, metaphorical, or satyrical, I admire the thought and message.  It seems that so many people take trees for granted and don't appreciate their life-giving/providing qualities.  People are so quick to cut, hack, saw, and butcher these true "officers of peace"...  Kudos to you.

....saved already!

Now, to my reply! Delightful! From one tree hugger to another, I love this poem! In fact, that has inspired me to repost a poem that I posted on my first day here at Passions--The Mighty Oak. I love trees--and I loved your poem!

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Joseph, I love this, sweet friend, I love nature so much too as I am a huge tree-hugger and believe trees are truly relatives to us and supply us with oxygen and beauty we should stop taking for granted! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joseph, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
