Listening to every heart

One of the Thanksgiving Ditties...

Now I know I’m not the first, and I know I’m not the last
to say “God Bless You” when we break our fast
as come this Thursday, our blessings from heaven sent
and with the Turkey bird, our day will soon be spent.

But I’ll give Thanks silently for all the many things
that have come around this year, making my heart sing...
like having healthy children, and the lasting of old-timers
and getting to know all of you, our great and mighty rhymers.

I can see it now this week, all the rhyming, tongue in cheek
while we hear about the “bird” from some other types of beaks
and I’m settling in for uproarious laughing even as I speak
for after talking of the “bird”, then a Christmas mouse will squeek.

So enjoy your holiday and don’t forget to give
Him the thanks He so deserves, then write the way you live.
