A question was asked
now you had children
was there a void
where no answer would enter
behind theatrical scenes
in caravan costume parlours?

people get romantic,even worship stars...
the ones aglitter
and those that sign autographs
behind theatrical scenes
on tour from coast to coast
a question of love's still asked
back stage microphone is passed
picked to cue on an age old question.

I mean the decision to love
to effect romantic changes
is to accept the evident
diverse qualities laid bare
they were there, but you never noticed
now the children are grown
and they will ask what love is
when their Mom went into show biz
and left little caring on the home front
effective upbringing was a circus stunt.

Well written!
Enjoyed!
A career which interferes with loving our children is a family-destructive career. Unfortunately, some parents don't care.
Enjoyed the read.

Thanks for sharing!
God bless!
Looking forward to reading more of your fine poetry.

makes you want to shake someone sometime....make them realize exactly how thankful they should be.  I suppose we all could use that from time to time..and your words did a little shaking

Nice work!

First time I have read your thoughts on this subject. Clear and most disturbing...How sad to miss the fleeting glimpse of children, for they grow so fast...or of love in it's raw emotional state...the truest of gifts.
Very well done. Happy Holidays to you.

Dear Diamond,

Having a toe hold in that industry...it is a frequent occurance and while men and women continue to play...much of the trauma happens between mother and child as it is she who usually nutures...even in these 'postmodern' times...sad to say

Martin.

Some women are free and independent spirits who are not into hearth and home--and that  in and of itself, is not a bad thing!--but if that lifestyle interfered with the well-being of her children, that would break my heart.

Beautifully written

Hello Earth Angel,

Correct, in itself it is not a bad thing..but the issue I brought forth here is not about the mother 'not being interested in hearth and home' the issue is abandoning her loved ones. Thanks for your input.

Martin
