You talked about the US Constitution,
and could talk just as easily around
angles and curves and squares,
never pigeonholing people
judgmentally.
I'm going to miss you, Darla.
I hope when I look up
into the starry night sky
I will see you smiling,
remembering how you once helped me
to solve a complex problem
that went beyond the simple formula
of one heart plus one heart
equals two.
You were always there
with words of encouragement
and honest sincerity.
May your soul rest
in Peace and Harmony,
knowing that the Love you gave
while you were here
expands exponentially
each day.

Goodbye to a wonderful teacher, Darla Chevalier.

I have posted this to acknowledge the gifts of a special lady who died suddenly this Tuesday from a brain tumor. She was a wonderful teacher, who helped me the past two years in homeschooling my daughter, and who scheduled to teach my teenager the ins and outs of the Constitution, and also help with Geometry.
But it was her constant encouragement and moral support that really impressed me, and her willingness to listen to different approaches to learning, and to always respect the rights of the individual parents and students.
Darla was a first rate teacher and human.

Thank you, dear friends jwesley and Duncan.
She gave me so much, and I just hope she understood what a Gibralter she had been.

Thank you for that reply, Noah. Teachers often get a bad rap. Darla's 'rap' sheet was a winning song to my ears.

What a joy to read this lovely tribute!  It makes me wish I could have known this person. It is clear that she taught much more than her lesson plan included.  Hugs to you.

Passingshadows, James, Constance, thank you for reading and for these kind replies.
Darla was a very private person, so I hope she forgives me for this rather public posting.

Kacy,
Very sad to hear of your loss. We miss the good ones the most and she will obviously be missed. Bless you and your sweet daughter.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
