My Life (Eleven Years Later)

Within the confines of her hurting heart
there was a desire to be rid of me.
So she procured all the necessary papers
and one fresh day in May she filled
a divorce decree.
Finally she had taken some action.
Finally she would know the satisfaction
of being free of me.
Her friends agreed with her.
They said to get on with the show.
A new life would be gained once
she accomplished her goal.
So she did and soon my new life began.
I was no longer a family man.
I began a new life without my precious
sons and without my sweet wife.
None of it seemed to be real.
You tell me how a man should feel
when all his goals are thrashed
and he's thrown out like yesterdays trash.
I know that I will always remember the day.
The day it felt like an angel of strife had
effectively ended my life.

I agree it's a pain that seems unbearable when in the midst of it. However, time really does heal.
Just curious... does 11 years later mean 11 years after the marriage or after the divorce? Not sure where you are with that.
Wishing you the best.

JamesMichael, this is so sad. It sounds just like
my brother. He and his wife were married for over thirty years.
Their divorce has devastated him and he has turned
to alchohol to try to feel the emptiness that he feels.
He used to be an ordained minister of God, too.
Please pray for him. He needs it very much. Right
now he doesn't want to accept the help of my parents
or myself.
