In Fields of Chaff
With Near a Full Moon on the Lake

Silver moon
Which shines now like then
Brightens the view of horror,
Silver moon
Beneath you lives end
Casting moods into sorrow,
Light this night
Where day men did bleed,
Defending home and honor,
Oh night light,
Your shine we now need
To dig graves in fields fallow.

By morning
Another leaving,
But at last one going home,
By morning
We will be grieving,
Behind our dead lay alone,

The full moon
Falls from the night sky,
Beyond the dark horizon,
The new moon
Will almost be nigh
When the home journey is done.

The form is developing, a little loose for me
