absinthe sounds great
like driving a sports car
through a large plate glass window
the female passenger oblivious to anything
other than your advances
I realized on the way to the liquor locker
that not even the silverworms who slop mercury through my veins
can poison my drive to succeed
..some time later……
The edges of the frame are starting to fuzz
igniting a tempered resonance between soundstages
both here and imagineered
these justifications and pageantry
are just ulcers to fuel my vertigo
like rust on chrome
Candlewax riverbeds
collect on the littered glass tabletop
nowhere to flow but over the edge
I explain to the shadows
that I am feeling rather tight
quite cockeyed in fact
and that Dos Passos and Hemingway
were men who understood the charm
of self-degradation
Stumbling into the hotel garden
I steady myself with a seat
under the terrace
fill a pipe
and watch the rain
fall through the nightlife

ah yes, and then we have to clean up the shavings--like your style!
