felt ribbons
lying on the grave marker
strictly regulate my double standards
sworn to sobriety
toast it with a shotgun shot glass
negligee satin touch
virgin skin lying on the wet paint
organized mayhem, calculated clutter set aside
luckily no one pays as much mind as I
to the dirt beneath my fingerprints
to the cowardice behind the wisp of my smile
the absence of echoes, of voices
fill the canyons inside
I would silence the heavens below
if the thefts in my heart
saw sunlight draped over the skylight
if an utterance of relief were a memoir
and not a aspiration
there are splits on the rings of a tree
a place where the nail is driven
into the coffin
there is a core
where things grow from
instead of being eaten at
I hope in my journeys wayward
I find such a place

I enjoyed this poem a great deal.

I like these phrases:

      ~organized mayhem~
      ~calculated clutter~

Though always a quest, some have found that core....acceptance is everything in it's revelation...

Thank you so much for this poem. Opens my mind to so many possiblilites...

        ~WELCOME TO PASSIONS~

I look forward to reading more of your work.

Warm Regards,

The ultimate sand script, Steven. I'll sip a glass to that.
