Our need for reassurance
to mix with the impending
carry change or opt for money lending
as daily practices subside
to cover guilt and stitch quilts

parades with floats decked in plenty
fill pagan souls when spirits empty...
portray needs to reassure young with fables
weave sweet tales given elders are able
or add some notes of the impending...
the futility of marketed processions

fat red suited men float down main streets
green frocked elves deliver seasonal treats
yet there are notes of the impending
to clear our slates of awkward practices
and accept worlds that are not our design
to live in peace, is there some to find
from reassurances of seasonal float entries?

I see the futility of marketing peace
with never ending displays of seasonal floats

Martin, did you have a parade in your town?

I use to love the holidays until they have become so commercialized that they flow into one another. They had Christmas displays before Halloween this year.

Another great poem, Martin...
I can't believe that our neighbors already have their Christmas tree up and decorated and all of their Christmas lights outside...
It seems to get earlier each year, the crass commercialism

Hi Maureen,

Santa was in town yesterday, 300,000 waited in the sub-zero for a glimpse, even those that that don't believe were looking for something...

Hi Lyra,

as soon as the pumpkins go up go the evergreens..oh well..and the plateau here is full of red bows already.
