If I had been born with any strength,
maybe then I could bear this weight.
If I had been blessed with a warrior's courage,
I could have possibly stopped this.
If I had been shown where this would lead,
I would have left it behind me.
If I had understood what keeping silent would do,
I would have screamed so much louder.
If I had thought to sever these chains sooner,
you would not be keeping me in them now.

Yet, I was made weak
and this cross is too heavy to bear.
I have been damned,
and I can not withstand this.
I am blinded by what I have been made to see
and lost to the darkness of it.
I have been silenced,
I dare not speak, not on this.
I am binded by the hurt that ties me to life,
and I know that it will soon end me.

Only you can drop that cross, or break those chains. Self-inflicted punishment is not Love's best pathway. Set yourself free.

But then again, this may just be poetry?
A good write.

Thanks for the post, and the words of advice.  If only it were just poetry.  It's what I carry with me and try to get out...poetry seems to be a safe outlet.

Welcome to a place where reality and fantasy frequently blend. You will find many here who will understand.
Peace to you, Kacy.

Hang in there, Shade.

welcome from here too - an interesting exploration. sad to be true, but recognizing something is the first step toward addressing it - perhaps you can build strength through poetry... i've seen that happen here many times.

peace,

Chris

Shade, since my computer was down for a couple of days, I didn't see you here when you first came. I'd like to welcome you here. I truly hope that you will continue to write your feelings in poetry. It really is a good outlet for your feelings...whatever they are. I hope someone here can help you. Thanks for sharing your heart.

Christopher and garysgirl
Thank you both for the welcome.  My poetry certainly is "amatureish" at best, but I really appreciate you encouraging me to use it here.  Thanks again,
Shade
