Sweated by the rowing
in this golden sea,
I ponder at the thoughts I raise
questions, past, for me.
I wonder why remembering,
a childhood,  disappears.
Yet knowing I was hindered not
and still it isn't clear.
The only things recalled are few
and funny ones in fact.
I try so hard to know the years
my brain just won't extract.
I use to call "over easy eggs"
by Mr.Cluster's name
and when I ordered out I'd get
a look of "strange", my aim.
But I remember eating there,
I guess they thought us poor.
Little did they know we just
enjoyed their family more.
I remember ballerina days,
when a "Moonbeam" I would dance.
But come recitals, I'd be sick
and lose my show-off chance.
I recall the day that I fell up
a set of stairs of friends
and having stitches in my lip
that evening near the end...
and Dad had bought "Chinese" for us
not often could he fare.
Of course I couldn't eat a bite,
not with my lip "out there".
I remember behind our house
a baseball game was played.
I stood too near home plate one time
and down and out I  laid.
"Concussion", they said I received
and till this day I think
that maybe that is why my mind
forgets, goes on the  blink.
This childhood mine, a blank to me
I'm wondering if it's true.
I think I am still "childhood living"
in thrills of knowing you.

I liked it M and this

I think I am still "childhood living"

Thanks Donna
I was raking leaves all morning, and at times when I got tired  my arms went into a rowing mode...thus the golden sea..
While doing so my mind was wandering like it always does, and I was thinking of childhood fun like jumping in a pile of leaves. But I really can't remember any and don't know why.

it means I am a bad typist... and there is a long story behind how I took the name originally...that is pretty lame...

I have no hair... or that is I shave my head and if I didn't would be bald on top anyway.. so it was originally meant as a play on my lack thereof...

and did Cpat  really mean captain as some have responded..because I always wondered why they thought that, when it wasn't the correct abbreviation..again..I am a stickler for spelling, although my fingers often make mistakes...

was moderator on another board long time ago now..and took the name Capt Hair as a parody of my own lack thereof and in response to anothers adoption of a name that was perhaps taken more sriously than mine. The Cpat comes from registering and not paying attention to the fact my fingers do not always do what my mind tells them to. There are some here that knew me from the other board and knew.know me as Captain Hair rather than Cpat hair

AHA! The Captain reveals!

Maureen, I love this 'childlook' and all the imagery. Those memories are priceless.

EA..it's sort of funny the only other ballet costume I had when little was "poison ivy"
(which I am highly allergic to)...didn't think that went so well with my poem..besides I am a moonchild, born in June and very affected by the Moons pull.
Thanks

Maureen, I love this. It has a playful ring to it. And, I'm still living my childhood, too, I think. HeeHee!!

Maureen, I liked this a lot, sad though it was.  I can totally relate, but my problem is 'older age.' It's usually short term memory that goes, but in my case, it's long and short.

Maybe we could play at being kids together.

Huggles, Marti
