Without A Goodbye

In attempt to let go
Still wanting to hold
To write this all down
Is what I’ve been told

Shattering internally
Emotions torn apart
There’s never a sound
From my broken heart

There is no shortcut
Taking time to sever
Aches linger on need
Heart longing forever

Despondant despair
Without a goodbye
In hollow emptiness
Your silence I verify

My downward spiral
With nowhere to go
Still wondering why
You never said adieu

sometimes the good byes are harder than we can imagine, but the lack of one certainly can leave one longing for some sort of closure...

Hope? Maybe that goodbye would have been too painful for both broken hearts.
But the pain might end faster with a door slam.
