The Mountain and the Sea

The mountain stands so high, the sea so low
The peeks look down on majesty below
Aware their lofty presence cannot hide
The power of the ocean’s mighty tide

The sea looks upward to the mountains helm
The white capped peeks so close to heaven’s realm
From canyons of the earth it cannot rise
To meet the starry winks of heaven’s eyes

A tree between the two looks up and down
From life’s beginnings to it’s sparkling crown
It’s summer shade is where I like to dream
Two mortal figures resting in between

Just perfect, Liz! I enjoyed this balanced  perspective, and especially liked that ending.

Lovely, especially that last stanza. It's a peaceful stroking, like how I think my cat feels when I gently pet her back.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

When you throw in the Mountains, the Sea, perfect iambic pentameter, mix them all together with a creative artistic genius, well, I'm hooked! This is perfection, Elizabeth! Thank you!

THank you all so very much for your kind remarks. And Denise, thanks for pointing out the iambic pentameter. I was unaware of it. Thank you

Liz
