state of confusion

In from the desert sun,
eyes adjust to darkened rooms,
houses of eternity.

We trace patterns
of shredded petals,
blue lotus buds
and papyrus bells,
interlaced
by crackled vines
of time.

Hieroglyphs of
birds, scarabs, legs -
dizzying,
layered in meaning.

Familiarity creeps,
imbues cells
with a trickle
of memory.

Outside,
a coral, dusky sky.
Shadowy arms reach -
dry, bony fingers
of an olive tree.

Cross-legged on sand,
reflection of dreams
are preserved in sleep.

(smiles) Oh Corinne, you've sad it all so well: familarity! Like this cradle of civilization dreams are preserves that remain mummified deep in our hearts after so long and only come back to life! (kiss on cheek) This is delightful, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Beautiful.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

I felt a chill within the warmth of this time capsule.
But I'd really like my bones to remain, undisturbed, wherever I leave them....which will probably be as dust over the Rockies or in the waves of the Pacific.

Corinne

I almost felt like I needed to whisper this reply, in caves, or pyramids, the tombs well said.

ok - i REALLY liked this one and would like to offer one minor bit of critique? - change the title. i think the whole would be even more powerful if one is left drawing that conclusion by themselves... and believe me, they will. the overtones are so vivid that one can't help but see the sand and stone, heiroglyphs and sarcophogi. very well done Cor - an A+

Thanks everyone!

Christopher - very good call! I changed the title to "A Glimpse."

Hope you like.
