New Poet Richey
Part two Friday Poetic Party Time
This is also long, I hope you enjoy it so grab some popcorn and a drink and let's begin

First things first so I grab Seymour and ‘Deer
The barbie need assembling a tricky job I fear
We need men and they are the likeliest pair
It’s just our luck that their skills they will share
Its no use expecting me to know how it’s done
And we need the barbie to add to our fun
So with the help of Isabel they assemble it
Does anyone know where to put this bit?

But eventually they get the coal nice and hot
Everyone for bangers? Because we’ve got a lot
Soon they are sizzling and food is dished out
Hooray at last I heard Titia shout
Keth is wielding the fork with such grace
And Krissy as always is feeding her face
Everyone ate and then Bill started to sing
This poetry meet has plenty of zing

Then we had the hit of this magical night
Poetry filled our souls with such pure delight
Keth read Banjo Pattison an Aussie poet of fame
Then Krissy read one of mine much to my shame
I read ‘Deer’s Mint Condition with glee
Then ‘Deer recited Small Pain In My Chest beautifully
Fran read The Portrait In The Hall and it was so good
I’d listen to them all again if only I could

There were gifts given out and that was fun
Keth gave a jar of Vegemite to everyone
What is that I heard someone say?
And I tried to describe it in my own way
Vegemite is like Marmite but not so sweet
It’s a spread for your toast and quite good to eat
Krissy wrinkled her nose when she heard that
And said sotto voce I’d not give it to my cat

Then more singing as Bill played once more
And I finally got a chance to talk to Seymour
Then just as we were about to go back to poetry
I had a phone call Madame Chipmunk called me
We’re up at Denny’s please where are you?
We’re on our way I said we’ll fetch you two
When we arrived they said with tears in their eyes
We got lost, and I replied well, what a surprise

Back to the villa with them both in tow
Follow us we said we know where to go
Everyone was so pleased that they made it at last
With the tales of their adventures time flew past
But finally we settled down to hear some poetry
Then Seymour recited one of his wonderfully
Nan’s spinet sonnet was received with delight
I could have listened to more far into night

Then we all settled down for the night
This was after some events that gave me a fright
I mean what with ‘Deer falling through the bed
And Bill taking a tumble and landing like lead
Those out by the pool settled down to sleep
Little Mo in her cupboard didn’t utter a peep
Krissy snored a little but responded to a poke
And turned over quickly and no one awoke

In the morning Keth woke Krissy she was wise
Because Krissy isn’t nice when she opens her eyes
She has a tendency to snap and snarl a bit
Krissy doesn’t like mornings they aren’t a hit
Like a firework it’s best to stand well clear
She’s not exactly a ray of sunshine I fear
But after a gallon of coffee she’s almost fine
At least she’s not savage most of the time

Marsha

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

I've had nightmares about putting that darned thing together...I can't even look at a barbie doll without cringing!! The food was good, though, the music plentiful and the poetry unforgettable. It was a wonderful time and the fact that you put the whole thing together from England without ever having been to the states and had the whole week-end run so smoothly is absolutely amazing, mushy. You did a fantastic job (although you will modestly deny) and your efforts gave us a special time I'm sure none of us will ever forget.

Thank you, mushy

Marsha,

This sounds like a wonderful time. I was in New Port Richey about two months before. Wish my visit there had coincided with the poet meet. Thank you for continuing to share the weekend with us through your fabulous writings.

Oh dear, you described it sooooo well, it makes me homesick to that villa in Tampa.

It was a delicious poetic night in every way.
Like Balladeer said, you deserve a loud and a knuffel.

Mushy,
as an organiser extraordinaire you did good, and the poems not bad an all. I'd be a drongo if I didn't say something nice so here goes.
Excellent job, you cause the stars to shine and the sun to glow when you write like this.

I read this with a mixture of delight at your good times and envy that I wasn't there. *S* However, there's no dithering when it comes to the quality of the poem... it's great! *S*
