It's been a dog day afternoon
I'm feeling down at heel
The barking sun fills up my head
While blood is in congeal

The pressure cooker of my day
Is building up some steam
The work, no time, the piddling pay
Is shattering this fine dream

The pavement hot beneath my feet
Is filling up my pores
I long for rain, for hail, for sleet
To cover up my flaws

The tar and concrete binds my life
While works just drags me down
No wonder that I feel in strife
And always wear a frown

To the houses one by one
I do postman's lament
And wish for grey, not summer sun
Until my will is spent

The rage I feel is growing fast
At mail drops infinite
Those letters dropped in bins I've passed
Who needs their letters? - Right!

It's been a dog day afternoon
This day is worse than most
Now since I'm fired, free as a coon
I'm headed for the coast.

* This comes from the riddle "Who has the worst job in the world. Answer A postman, because everyday when he arrives at work he gets the sack." *Smile

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth beloved heart yours is much much better, so I’m putting mine here, on your reply. It is part of my cunning plan, it will be seen by more peeps on yours beloved heart

Anyway exquisite writing darling heart, and you know I love it, I love it utterly utterly utterly

Tu est formidable n’est pas ma cheri

It’s been a type of dog end day
When rain fills the air with mist
The type when I want to hide away
Where I feel tragedy’s kiss

It’s been a day when icy flows
Fill my veins with fear
The sun that should have warmed me
Suddenly isn’t here

It’s been the type of misted day
Where all I see is faded
Sunshine shimmer dies away
And my senses are all jaded

It’s been a day where dogs lie low
And all around speak softly
Chilling winds across me flow
And the day is dog-eared and misty

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

(smiles) Oh my gosh, I have heard that riddle before too, though football quarterbacks also get "sacked" AND they risk concussions too, that would sound worse than a mail carrier to me too! (big hugggssssss) This is a clever response, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

ROTFL at the replies, and Keth, I really enjoyed this poem. Now I know what happened to that missing check!
Hope my mailperson gets a laugh at this one, I think I'll print out a copy for her, with your permission, complete with humorous replies.
