"I will always love you,
Even though I must depart.
I leave with you my memory,
And leave with you my heart.

Today we got our orders-
To a land across the sea.
I dare not hope that you will wait-
For what may never be.

They tell me that the jungle-
Is a place of sudden death!
In fact, I'm nearly sickened,
When I smell it's fetid breath.

A product of West Texas,
The sagebrush and the sand.
I hate the humid tropics,
Of this Southeast Asian land."

I placed the bloody journal-
Into an envelope...
To mail home with the letter,
That would shatter someone's hope.

And wondered of the sweetheart,
And, now, what would she do?
And would a grieving Mother...
Show to her, that "I love you"?

Now did you just listen to Paul Harvey as well, about the lost letter?  I was going to write of it, but see that you have, and best leave it to you...

thank you, GS...
