state of confusion

A protective arm stretches across her,
blocking a rejected lover.
He would crash against her shores,
pry sandy fingers back
to pilfer her beaches.

Winter magnifies his strength -
ironfisted waves blast
and chisel at her bluffs.

In time, he will erode her
until her banks are diminished
into glass granules.

Tonight though,
curling tendrils of fog caress
and a coral sunset on her calm waters
blushes, the curve of a conch.

A foghorn calls out -
a lost sound,
mournful as a loon.

Wow Cor..  IWIHWT!!!  Nicely done, love the
vision that this gives,  the silence that
comes to one's mind...and then the lonely
horn sounds...

You made me wink
then blink
and the sound ended...

very good...

but then, you always are.

Corinne,
loved the mournful finish before the curtain call and I too had a wow in there.

(big huggsssssss) Oh Corinne, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I understand this feeling ever so well and I hope this mournful feeling doesn't apply to you right now or any of your closest loved ones! (sigh) You sound a bugle of a thought here, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank youn for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

a lost sound,
doesn't get much better than this....
great imagery and I am left with a feeling... somewhat mournful yet graced

Corinne

I spent some wonderful times at Bodega bay...sounds like it hasn't changed in all those years since I was twenty.  Your poem, lovely!

Thank you so much Magnus! Just returned from this magical place (where they filmed "The Birds"). What atmosphere, it almost defies description!

Pat - thank you as well!

Thanks, VAS!

Sunshine - you are such a supportive writer, I have always felt close to you, thank you!

Thank you kindly TOHHHHHHHH!

Captain - thank you!!!

Martie, curiously, it has not changed much - yet. But I did see a sign posted on a bayfront hillside that boasted of 70 new houses in development. Made me sad because it's still so rustic and so unchanged that I was amazed. Even the drive over, the land is still pretty much cattle ranches and cute little towns.
