The following was to meet a challenge using, Cardinal, unspoken and evergreen in a poem of any form/style.

If All Were Silent

The cardinal rests
on new-fallen snow
atop the evergreen bough.

The hillside crests
neath silent stars
echoing unspoken vows.

What might have been
had the angels not sung
nor the shepherds not heard their song?

Would the news been the same
‘neath a starless rain
absent of heavenly throng?

A strange thing to ponder
in spite of the wonder
over the miracle that changed fate of man.

For it came to be,
for you and for me,
the perfecting of God’s holy plan.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

A poem of grace--both in style and in content. Lovely!

Virginia, I love the way the words to this poem just flow along in rhythm.....never missing a beat. I wish I knew how to write this way.
Thanks for sharing your talent, lady.

(smiles) Oh Virginia, I just love this, sweet friend, I could envision the gorgeous cardinal singing on the tree happily and with her babies jumping up and down in happy dance to His heavenly throng! (kiss on cheek) This is breathtaking, sweet friend, I love it, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
