Of the leaves that weep for lost coloured coats
chlorphyll factories shut down
sugars are stored in tissues
abscissas loose their hold
their sticky grip to twigs yields
collars turn up...air crispens
woolens fill drawers
and there are fall reminders
of brisker winds to come.

Of the leaves that fall
nature has ways of creating roadside heaps
friendlier winds give way to gusts
to unveil tree branches for winter's blanket.

After the cycle of growth
comes the need to renew
to shed a tear for one's passing
of the leaves that fall.

I like the imagery. Actually I love the whole poem.

I loved the images Martin..I just came in from a beautiful,almost 70 degree day...and had mowed my leaves, mulching them to blend again into the ground.
As I completed the job..new leaves continued to fall...laying a new blanket of color behind me.
