There's something nameless in the night
that shapes a nightmare from my dream
it shreds my soul, takes trust from sight
I have no mouth, yet I must scream

There's something vile, within the dark
that calls me to embrace my end
it pierces peace, tears me apart
asks me to call, this darkness friend

There's something hidden in the night
that slithers, softly cross the floor
it rends, is rank, takes great delight
in spreading plague, within its spore

And in the dark of helpless weep
the feeling grows of horror near,
it calls - I hear, keeps me from sleep
and teaches me to trust in fear

I struggle vainly breathing in
this death that draws me to its side
the something dark within my skin
has come to stay, with me abide

There's something fearful in the dark
no name has it - but terror stark

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Wow..........SOOOOO good! *shiver runs up her spine* One line..."teaches me to trust in fear"...gave me little cold shocks up my spine....oo-oo-ooh. Wonderful, amazing poem. Reminds me of somethign I can't quite pinpoint...oh well, that's just the way my memory works. Only active when I don't need it.

Blessed Be!

Eeeeuuu...this is so scary I've got shivers up the back of my neck...

What a tremendous write, Kethry...

I am leaving my light on tonight!

I just re-read the poem  and it can be taken in more than one way, and so am revising what I have to say...which is nothing more, for the poem speaks for itself....

Hugs and
Warm regards,
Pat

Keth beloved heart, oh you wretch darling heart, how can you scare me witless. So art thou coming over here to stand guard to stop the wicked ones breaking into my room? Art thou coming to ward my windows, and spread light through the darkness? Art thou? I bet thou art not…….. in fact I’d lay a pony on it, if I could get odds on such a sure bet, which I couldn’t. See beloved heart you’re leading me into the paths of darkness now, gambling and spirits, keep up darling heart

You know I love it utterly utterly spine-chillingly well written, as always beloved heart you have done this exquisitely

Steph,
I'm glad you have the chills it means the poem is effective

Pat, thanks for the stand alone comment and the other.

Mushy,
I'm sending garlic to ward anything else would be pointless

(jumps at edge of seat) Oh Kethry, this gave me goosebumps reading this, and that is great because it shows how wonderful your poetry touches us all! (big hugggsssssss) This is powerfully eerie, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Keth beloved heart Ohhhhhhhh it is, is it? All I get is an offer of garlic, when you’ve led me into the paths of darkness……… me to whom sin is unknown. Shhh, that rumour is totally unfounded, nothing has been proved and it won’t be There’s things out there and all I get is a bit of garlic, not even a whole clove either, this looks as if someone has chewed it, and don’t tell me there’s nothing wrong with it. I know for certain someone has been chewing it, I can see teeth marks. Good grief darling heart, what is to become of me? If you find me in the gutter with my feet stuck in the air I’ll blame you. Quite you, I heard you muttering about me finding my own level

Noah, I know I'm late for halloween. I told my muse to hurry and it didn't

Marsha, as long as you are not going straight to heaven with your legs in the air- oh wait that's a GOOD thing! The garlic will keep the bloodsuckers from devouring you.
