in_the_absence_of_subtlety

talking is just an involuntary reflex caught somewhere in between the seats of new cars
and conversations the size of postcards
maybe the view from the second floor or the heal of my shoe shoved up against the already locked door
in fact most things we don’t even remember most things we pray that we will forget
and the smell of burning potential seasoned with self righteousness and the salty taste of regret

but who are we? and why do we try to build houses out of sticks that we didn’t pay for?
We are all bullet proof but not water proof and our blood soaked skin is getting thicker
Because they own the guns and we own the triggers

But you know we’ve got bigger cause and no solution, faster cars and better excuses, longer lines with shorter nooses
There’s daylight savings and tax on interest, nights of violence and a tolerance for incest
we’ve got movie stars on silver screens and drive through medication for a better scene
there is anti-war and anti-hate and the antichrist with whom we fornicate
we’ve got Prozac dogs and Ritalin kids and soccer mom’s on a mini van binge
we’ve got abortion pills for date rape drugs and easy steamers for puke stained rugs
there are three dollar coffees next too two dollar stores, behind shopping cart houses, and teenage whores
we’ve got second mortgages and credit card debt and infomercials that breed on intent
there’s DNA predicting birth defects and short term disability for the malcontent

Where do we go from here? You see in the world, subtlety, provides us the drama
And we’ll sell the damaged for a large margin Because without subtlety
What we have left, has most definitely, already came

Bold, outspoken, observant, truthful...  this deserves a bump to the top.  I'd love to hear this one performed live.  Well done.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Neill, this is excellent, sweet friend, we all need that kind of subtlety, the real question we have to ask ourselves is "When is it too much, and what can we do about it?" (sigh) BRAVO, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Neill, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
