A long time ago
and far far away
a fairy tale princess
and a beautiful day

A marriage was planned
the talk of the land
a millions songs
and a thousand bands

The big day arrived
all banners held high
the prince and princess
to wed tonight

But came the event
the princess didnt show
but a messenger proclaimed
in words solemn and slow

"Dear prince I do love you
Dear prince I do care
But dear prince i cant marry you
for my heart no longer lies there"

The morale of this tale
for any prince unaware
no matter how long or how far away
Somewhere a heart is breaking

Take a good look at my face
Well, don't my smile look out of  place
look a little closer its easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

Time and space two of the greatest foes for romance. Wonderfully written.

it's comforting, isn't it sometimes, that we're never the only ones.  Poems like this remind us that we're not.

And ya don't forget it
When it happens to you

A lady kinda-sorta
Stomped on my aorta

Walter, this is really good. It had a surprising ending, but I still liked it.

We need to rewrite our heart tales with happy endings......

No one has ever shown me how to see the world the way I see it now ...
and I never saw blue like that before.

A sad love poem.. Enjoyed.. Thank you for sharing.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.
