Nothing But A Game

Running around,
Carefree and safe,
Those lives untouched,
By realities true hate.

Innocent smiles,
And playful games,
No trace of cold,
On that small face.

An ignorant bliss,
Such perfect days,
Unblemished by those,
Who wish to stand in their way.

No wonder those tears,
Haven’t yet been shed,
For life’s true light,
Has been kept under wrap.

But once the shutters open,
And light ruins the day,
All innocence is lost,
The games ripped away.

Playful smiles,
A memory of the past,
No longer left,
Full of laughter and zest.

Pointed fingers,
At those who stole it away,
But what right did we have,
To keep it that way?

The curtains opened,
Those smiles lost,
Cowering hope,
Disappearing in the dark.

What to do?
With such blatant pain,
Wishing won’t make it better,
So how to take it away?

We wish for the days,
When smiles crossed our face,
When all the fighting,
Was nothing but a game.

Good poem.. Got interupted in the middle of it.. but its all good.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Herein lies the reason why grandparents and grandchildren bond so strongly -- the kids haven't seen life yet, and the older folk have learned what to look out for...  Poignant thoughts...  Welcome to our lives, Elizabeth,  real and virtual...

"The days it was a game" - I am sure there are many who can identify with this poem, and are sitting there wondering how it changed.  This was a great entrance poem and welcome to Passions.  It looks like you are bring in a unique style that is a pleasure to read, and I will be looking forward to more.
