The Shores of Alone

Sleepless, I roam the castle dark
the cold stone floor under my feet
nothing but mice for company
and in my heart I only weep.

Too late to salvage this poor life
yet stumbling, I still go on
and dream awake of could have beens
if life were lived like once upon.

Sandra~
Good to see your name here, my friend.
I enjoyed reading this piece.
It's a heart-tugger and you've written it well.

catalinamoon,

I loved your poem.. Really nice. Good job

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Those last two lines are awesome!  I feel like they could easily start another poem...  up for the challenge?

My dear lil sis....have missed you, and now I see that you have been busy roaming the castle. I loved this for very special reasons, you know, and was so happy to find you here!

Pen how you truly feel...
it is a safety-valve for the soul!

Thanks, all you sweet friends who read this little piece. I am working on getting back in good with my muse.
Mark, I can't think of another poem with those lines, but I agree it would be a good beginning. Guess I'm not up to challenges yet. Have't written for 2 months!
Hugs all

Beautiful words of the soul, expressing the
emptiness,  the desire of what might be,
once upon...good to see your words again

Hi Sandra...I liked your poem. It was well written. I saw from your replies that you haven't written for about two months. I started posting here on the last of September, so I wasn't here then. I can tell from the response to your poem that you have a lot of friends here who have missed you. I hope you're back and that I will see more of you.

This little guy is sleepless to.
Loved the poem, short, and not overdone, my type of poem. I'm so impatient.

Muses are funny things my friend...sometimes, if you just let the pen push the paper...and ignore them...They come to life. Have missed you here. Be back soon.

Nothing to say that hasn't been said ....
except one of those mice could become
a special friend, only waiting for you
to find the magical key to release them
   from such a lonely spell.

What have you done to my waiting room, oh dear nurse of mine?

Where did the nice, clean tile go?

You really must do a better job of having the facilities people clean this place!

I understand the castle part since I live upstairs and a man's home is his castle

Dream sweet dreams dear Sandra, he is out there and moving in your direction ...  I promise!

Love, Elise   I sent you a reply earlier, but it didn't compute. I hope this one does, and if the other one finally does, you'll have 2!
