I listened in the silence
as she whispered her plea
"Dearest Lord above,
could you please help me?"

I could hear it slowly growing
the desperation in her voice,
she felt abandoned and alone,
like she had been left no choice.

In her eyes I could see the torment
and I could feel each ounce of pain
her tears began flowing down,
like the gentle sprinkling of rain.

In her soul there was a struggle,
it was residing deep within,
once, just once, she wished
that she could somehow win.

She sat mesmerized in silence,
as her eyes searched into mine,
I offered my words of comfort,
to help ease her weary mind.

There was a briefness in her pause
before she slowly began to speak,
and with her next words spoken
I could feel my heart grow weak.

I couldn't stop my tears from falling
touching me so deeply that I began to cry
"I hope that God let's me know love,
just once before I die."

(big hugggssssss) Oh Donna, this is so very sad and heartfelt, sweet friend, I know this ever so well as when I was a little boy, I always wanted to make peace with everyone but immature boys abused me and I cried out if I would ever be loved in my life! (sad sigh) Now I am, for Joanna and you and all my friends have shown me the beauty of love and I am now confident all can find that love if they believe in it and believe in Him! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, I send angel hugs her way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light alwyas shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This Diamond, thank you.  Impact is what I was going for when I wrote it.  Hugs.

Noah, it's ok hon, this one is just an imaginary one based on a conversation I had with a friend a long time ago.  Your heart is so sweet.  Hugs

Oh, sweet Donna, you have really touched me with this compassionate poem. It made me feel so sorry for the one in the poem. And also made me so thankful to have known "love", myself....not only now with Gary, but before with my husband who passed away before I met Gary.
thanks for making me remember that I have so much to be thankful for, even when I'm feeling blue and downhearted.
This verse should make reader think....

"I hope that God lets me know love,
just once before I die."

Love makes the world go 'round (unkown)

Beautiful poem.. I will keep an eye out for more of your lovely poetry.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Donna, how sad I am for the person in your poem. To go through life feeling there will never be love is just awful.

This is one mighty powerful and emotional piece of writing.

I felt a part of the poem in that I heard the ending tears and comfort. Thank you.

A very unexpected and heart-tugging ending, Donna.  Like all of your poetry, nicely written, my friend.   *hugs*

the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
