Did you see him laying there
In the chill of autumn air,
Just a simple question asked
Did you see him as you passed.

“Not I, I can’t be involved”

Not even by random chance
Did you happen a side glance
And see something like some bags
A clump of forgotten rags.

“I’ve no time to be involved.”

But this is your morning way
And walk here every day
Can’t you recognize the face
That was always in this place?

“Nay I say now go away”

So they placed the pile of rags
Gently in the body bag,
Just a man that no one knows,
On the list of the John Does.

So sad when people end up nameless, faceless and unwanted.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thank you, Kethry,
For your comments
blessed be the nameless,
for they will be recognized in heaven

I saw this happen when I was 16 and in the New York subway...people stepping over a body, figuring he was a drunk and sleeping it off...things haven't changed much at all.
