To bare my thoughts...unrhymed

It has been a long time since
I could say that I was feeling good
or that this coughing spell
I have had so long
has ended as suddenly
as it had arrived...
and if it hadn't been
for this special place
to release the stress
that I am constantly under,
not by choice but
by a difficult arrangement,
I am sure I would have bottomed out by now..

~a poem of thanks~

I lived in a silence for over a year
a self-imposed prison, needing some time.
Each day I adjusted to living alone
but inside holding back, were these feelings, I've rhymed.
I needed you here,  no medicine would cure
the doctors, the many tried, draining me still.
I would push and would center on thoughts not on me,
hoping my mind with your words, would then fill,
erasing the worry that caused this reaction,
needing the time to renew and adjust.
The power of words and the friendships that opened
the windows for me, were a freshness of trust.

I am passing my thanks onto those of you here,
some needing more of a shoulder than I.
My Florida friends aided unknowingly,
each night in that closet, where nakdthoughts lie.
And the poets I've met in the years before this one
enriched me no matter the distance of mile.
I give to all thanks for support and the friendships
Each morning awaking, am I now with a smile.

Maureen/nakdthoughts/Alicethruglass/LadyOllyne...
all thank you for allowing me the space to write, release, and renew...

thank you Donna, I know you know how these situations can drain a soul and cause the body to wear itself down...

A wonderful poem of healing, Maureen.  God bless you!

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Sue, thank you..and Michael..I have had a cough for a year and a half that could really wear me down. I am just glad that something in my mind decided to end it all since it was diagnosed as a reaction to stress...and nothing could make it stop in over a year of seeing doctors. I almost didn't notice it stopped last week.

*s thank you
Maureen

I have not posted here for over 2 years, Maureen....so long in fact that you know me by another name.

But I am Contabo now and am glad you can bare your thoughts unrhymed.

Maureen, thank you for making sure
that I knew that this would have been posted
in response to my challenge, had you seen it
to begin with.  Happy Thanksgiving for the unrhymed muses within...

Contabo, happy to see you return...despite not knowing who you were *s
thank you.

Karilea, I think I am more than thankful for several things in my life at this moment... but Passions is a big one...and most deserving of my thanks.

Kethry, that closet may haunt me forever *s...I guess I should have been thankful for the peace and quiet I had in there.

Noah, thank you for your responses, always

Ethel, Thank you for reading  my poem of thanks, as you can see there are many friends made on here..some leading to realtime ones also.

Hope, If we didn't feel that attachment to  writing and reading and the friends made, I don't think we would be here on the internet today. hugs and thanks
M

Thanks Mike.. sorry to say that for the past 3 days I have had a virus... that's why I am on here so much
but I know that will leave me soon, it was the coughing etc..that held me down for over a year.

The Dr. said it should be leaving me within the last two months and for an intern, who only tried one remedy and it worked, I think he is the best...and he has restored my faith in Drs.

So I have much to be thankful for this year.
hugs

Nice poem. Thank you for sharing.. I really enjoyed.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.
