Rewards

She treats me like a horse
No, a flunky donkey
With ne’er a thought of divorce
And loads me till I’m wonky.

A carrot is held before my nose
Desire makes me pull the load
Where goes my nose so goes my toes
She keeps my eyes upon the road.

She tells me I’m sir Galahad
Her knight in shining white and yet
She leads me to the edge of mad
And winks at me a sweet coquette.

Her favor seems to weight like lead
It covers me from cap-a-pie
Yet I will pull the load till dead
Or ashes spread upon the sea.

If this is love, I am a horse.
Sorry, I meant donkey of course.

Wry smile...
Cry awhile
Will it get better?
I don't know...
for your last letter's
not written, so....

Many of us are indeed led into these happily confusing realms of love. Wonderful play on phrasing here, Sy. Enjoyed this, my friend!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Sy-babes...ya make me smile...even with the fussing of your rhymes..I see the underlying affection between your lines....
and I see that Isabel is still working you and Randy with the house redecorating *L*

Well...its either the house work..or take another trip LOL
Let me know when its your rest-break...I'll bring you and Randy some tea..or would you rather some "chips and beer" LOL

JM,
Women have a tendency to over pack.
And that is not kindly on the back.
Randy refused the plea so I played the donkey.
I think we are ready for chips and beer.

too, too delightful, Sy! Impeccable rhythm/rhyme with a sweet, sweet sentiment. Me thinks you're an adorable burro and not a donkey, stubborn against her, but stubborn in the steadfast sense.  Well done, thoroughly enjoyed!

Seymour darling heart this is truly one of your best I love it, and of course you knew I would. I can just see you lugging the load, and you used my favourite expression wonky donkey, which is very very southern England, you could almost be a native love.

You take care of your back love, we wouldn’t want you out of action for any length of time, I’d miss you much too much.

Truly excellent writing, I love it utterly utterly utterly
