Vigil By Candlelight

Can you picture me
My heart still yearning
Pondering what to pen
Solitary candle burning

The flickering flame
A vigil by candlelight
My mind cannot sleep
It is the reason  I write

Tears on paper trails
Among pages I wept
In this candlelit room
Tonight I’ve not slept

Melancholy hovered
My spirit hangs low
Tossing and turning
By a candlelight glow

A good night sleep
It’s so long overdue
Candlelight dreams
No longer come true

On wall and ceiling
The  shadows dance
A pen starts to write
Why we lose romance

Sometimes it's not the loss of love that keeps us awake but more often it is. Very good write.

Hope I have to agree with you, I believe at night things tend to seem much darker in our emotional states.  Very expressive.  Hugs to you.

Wow, nice work. I'm still a relatively new writer and to read this...I'm in such awe! The thoughts and feelings just overflow. It was great. Nice work.
It might sound corny or such, but that really inspires me. Yay for you.

Hope, there is so much emotion dripped into this piece. The late night seems to bring out such dark emotion. I hope this is only temporary for you.

A wonderful poem though.

Hugs, Marti

Nice words... It reminds me of when i write my poems.. ( i am also writeing a book ) I think of one thing.. And BAM! i start writing then i i try not to think, and then fix my mistakes later.. to me, if you dont think, then you'l say whatever is in your heart, and itle make a better poem. By thats my opinion.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Hope, yes, I could picture you perfectly, because you wrote this so perfectly! I like this a great deal.
Whether you are feeling all this yourself or not, others surely do or have at some point. A little glimpse into real life and real feelings.

Thank you,
Warm Regards,
Pat

Hope,

This is a very sad write. I understand all to well how our thoughts can take over on a sleepless night. Been having one too many of those lately. I enjoyed this poem, but hope you are feeling happier soon.
