When is the time to touch the snow,
or count the falling autumn leaves,
or catch a firefly as it passes,
or break the arrow and the bow?

What time in life is memory born
and how much survives until our death?
How many breaths until our rest
and how many mourners there to mourn?

When is the time to accept the grief
that always held you to that place,
or catch a glimpse of yesteryear
in a sweet and silent face?

When is the time to catch the tear
before it trickles down your cheek,
to cease and promise not to weep,
to rise above despair?

When is the time to gain from loss
and learn from what we left behind,
to stack the building blocks of mind
and struggle back to our feet?

When is the time to raise your voice
and risk the violent trends of hate,
or stumble into the wilderness
when the hour is dark and late?

When is the time to burn your fears
and find new hope in days unborn,
to renew your heart through tenderness
and find it is yet unworn?

August,
the time is now, the place is here and in your write I see memories of yesterday and visions of tomorrow.

I really love this thought provoking piece Michael.
Many questions here we have all pondered at one time or another..
Much enjoyed..and into my library this keeper goes.

There is only one moment, Michael and that is ~now~!  I liked the last two lines a great deal.

You do offer a lot to think about.
Another very good poem. Thank you so much.

Warm Regards,
Pat

I would answer only that we have now...and nothing else is promised...But you already have your answer and I have already
found it to be inspirational.
Wonderful write. Best Regards, ThisDiamond

I think you know the answer to that. Life goes on for a little while and we have to appreciate the small things. I see you do. Great read

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Michael, I agree with what Martie said, the quantities are invariant and it is time and time again when we ust count our many blessings and genuflect upon our primrose path and forgive! (sigh) This is touching, sweet friend, I love this, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Ooops!  I think I just plagiarized Kethry's brilliant and to-the-point reply. LOL
