As the Seasons Slowly Turn, I Suppose
©2000-2002 C.G. Ward

Springtime’s been hitched to the stars
and so these wagons roll silently away
Thus ends this big adventure I suppose
Five thousand hours & a million smiles
ride fast away from what we used to be
into the setting dawn of can’t go back
Fade now the darkness into lonely hues
this Summer is screaming in desolation
Fiery plumes from foggy gray teardrops
casting shadows of moonlit smatterings
So, another dreary nighttime I suppose
Closing off my mind Fall stumbles near
Trapping cascades and brilliant echoes
of canned laughters and preserved joys
It chases in rainbow falls of peaceful
and it leaves me, breathlessly wistful
I must wish outside for hope I suppose
I unearth the ornaments of our passing
to place them highly in my re-memories
and peruse the pain over years gone by
A house grown barren over molding loss
scented with pine and laminated images
Winter now nothing save an endless eve
I can live without your love I suppose

it's alright I suppose, or breathlessly wistful. I can't decide which although...I think the latter wins...hands down

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

"breathlessly wistful" ...
yeah...that bout covers it...............

(did you say something bout a song on my thread?

"Can you roll down the window
Can I have a cigarette
Can I sweep you for forgiveness
Can I sweep you for regret
And can you drive a little faster, to clear my head

Can you see that I've been crying
Can you tell that I've been alone
Can we walk the streets at the same time, I don't mind
I'll be quiet and no one will know
And can you drive a little faster, take me home

These are the days that make up the lifetimes
These are the clothes that I wear
This is the only thing I wanted more than anything

I wanna fall at a million miles an hour
With people and little picture radios
And I'm smiling but I'm trying hard not to smile at all"

Memory lane is taking over today. Is it the weather? Naw, it is just poetry. But since it comes from the deepest core of our being, we keep coming back each day to keep these parts of us alive. Some memories seem harder to let go of, especially those connected with love.
Well done, Chris.

Chris, this one feels like a dusty one highway. THat was meant as a compliment,
not gonna demolish this one, just enjoy and savour the read.

Christopher~
This is such a beautiful, yet heart-wrenching piece.
So many wonderful lines are wrapped up in this.
Though it may be a repost, the emotions feel very fresh.
Hugs to you, my friend.
