Twist of Fate

A cruel twist of fate was dealt
As pain in your chest was felt
A life so young, so much would have been left undone
Your heart it seems wanted to be a smoking gun
A friendship we share through many a tear
So happy to know you'll be there many more years
A true friend to you and yours I'll always be
It's easy you see, when we're family.

Noah and Ethel,

Thank you both for your sweet replies. This was written for a few friends, but never shared with them. I recently found it again after a bit.

Dawn, As I know all too well your friends are always as close to your heart as is your family, they are one in the same for you. I am also glad that you will still have time to enjoy smiles and laughter with this person you write about here in this poem. Thanks for sharing your talent here with us.

Sometimes friends feel like family and sometimes members of our family are truly friends.  Heartfelt and well said, Dawn!

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Lost Dreamer,

Yes, most often my friends and family are one and the same. Thank you for giving me the courage to show this poem to one of its intended receipients, and I hope soon I'll find the courage to show it to the other.

Earth Angel,

I too am thankful that my friends were not lost to me. I may not see them every day, but they are safely tucked within my heart every min of every day as is everyone here at Passions.

Munda,

A reply to you is probably harder than the reply to Ria's comments. Your reply made me cry and I'm very blessed to have you in my life.

Auguste,

Thank you very much for your heartfelt words. Yes the lines between family and friends have become very dim as of late, but you know what, I wouldn't have it any other way.
