O Goddess of the golden light
wherein the Elves and Faeries play.
O woman of this waking flight
whose whispers softly come to stay.

Where does the love of mortal man
find the heart of one maiden’s dwell?
To spring and dance on whitest sand
and feel the pulse beat linger tell.

To touch the cheek and quell a tear,
or let the hand hold up one’s chin.
To take from her a thought of fear
that comes from deep the bowel within.

I say from in my beating chest
I say from in my waking mind.
I’ll stay till He does bring to rest
and only then in dreams I’ll find.

In one heart of soulful beating
where blood does course the flowing vein
I’ll say to you, my words retreating
of thoughts I’ve had, I’ll not refrain.

For true in soul and true in life
I shall to all be courage found.
Through times of good and those of strife
to guard and keep where joys abound.

Not only do I view this as a fine piece of writing, but it is one that has touched me on a cellular level. The strength and love that is conveyed through these words are the same qualities possessed by the man who wrote them.

This is such romantic and such classically written prose, Barry. A delight to the senses and a delight to the heart.

Almost blushing?  Well, read JM's response a few more times, and do a good job of it!

Barry, this is SOOOO  beautiful. I'm so glad to see all these
poets writing these romatic poems. I love  ALL  poetry, but this type finds a special place in my heart.
Do you think it's because I'm so hopelessly "in love"???
Thanks for sharing your poetry with us, kind Sir.

Cool poem!

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.
