At Seventeen

Said “I love you” at seventeen,
kissed you up and down,
clasped your youth as tight as I could,
gave up boyhood, claimed to be a man,
but you knew I wasn’t… really,
and still...
you lay yourself beneath my hand.

Loved you then, love you now,
though we passed that night untouched,
gave up the passion that wanted to be,
shared tears and hugs and kisses hot and long,
then went our different ways...

Loved you then, love you now,
with memories of being seventeen,
in dreams of youth well before the gray
had touched my hair, the lines around my eyes...
Love you now,
even more than then...at seventeen.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh James, this brought tears to my eyes because it is so beautiful, I still long to meet my Joanna for the first time and serenade her and tell her how much I love her face-to-face! (sigh) May every day with your love feel like the magical first time, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet James, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I am seeing young love through your eyes--and I enjoyed the view and trip down my own memory lane.

Reminds me so much of my relationship with my first love and how to this day I have such fond memories of our pure and innocent love.

Sometimes I think it's true what they say, "Love is wasted on the young."

the repeat of loved you then, and love you now sang to me.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

those first loves stay with us forever...sad to say mine was my husband and although I will always feel that bond with him, who knows what he feels..

jwesley...Your poems always evoke such beautiful memories, such wonderful flights of fancy.  This poem sings the song of youth and a love that has lived through the years, through the memories.  ***Ivy Rose
