* * *

I'm sending a letter to heaven
And I've sealed it with a kiss
I've addressed it to my father
Whose presence I still miss

I tell him how much I love him
And how I miss him every day
How I follow his guiding light
And in my heart is where he'll stay

He was too good for our world
And was needed up above
He now flies high with the angels
And showers me with love

I know he's saving a place for me
For one day I'll join him there
But for now I'll pen my love
And show the world how much I care

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you
- Shawn Mullins

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I know your dad thinks of you everyday and will always love you so much and be proud of you, her little angel, and when the time is right you will join him again and you can read all these beautiful words to him! (sigh) You are an angel to us all, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sue, Every word you write was carried by an angel from your Dad and then the entire poem is taken back to him to read. And he is so darn proud of you.

This was so touching ... hugs, Marti

Very touching poem. My dad passed away in 1983 so I can relate to your poem very well.
The picture is also outstanding.

Everyone misses a family member.. But, just think of where they're at, and no one can hurt them.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

I am truly overwhelmed by the amount of responses to this poem which is so very close to my heart.  This is for all of you :

"The friends who listen to us
are the ones we move toward
and we want to sit in their radius.
When we are listened to, it creates us,
it makes us unfold and expand."

"When the willow bends at the
first hint of troubled breezes,
our friends come running
to see how they can help.
Sometimes friends know
when they are needed
even before we realise it ourselves,
because we are accustomed to
letting them in on the
happenings of our lives."

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Take care

Love Sue

Sue darling heart and painter of a soul’s inner beauty once more your writing is simply stunning. Your ability to speak with words dipped in poet’s translucent thought is so beautifully displayed here. Always you uncover the thought, and shading it in the perfect hue you frame it and then hang it high for us all to see.

This is utterly utterly lovely, one of your utter best I think, your heart shows within this

The light that shines from within you
Anoints my soul with poet’s dew
The softness of your wordy grace
Leaves the lightest hint, just a trace
Of the you that’s spun in this
The line that gives a poetic kiss
Thoughts written of now and when
Inscribed by your poet’s pen
Now paint the sky with rainbow hue
And let me see what else you do
Light the sky and lighten the night
With your words of sweet delight
Like the wave that seeks the shore
My eyes look for your light evermore
Truly superb writing, you know that your writing fills me with awe, always your writing is awesome, and this is utterly utterly perfect. Thank you for sending it to me

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Sue time has gone by so quickly since his passing, but it seems your love for him has not changed one tiny bit.  I was just thinking of your Dad last Friday when I was at a senior's wood working shop, and actually was thinking of you both.  Beautiful tribute to Dad and I am sure he is not only proud of you but watches over  you.

Let there be peace on earth,
and let it begin with me.
