It’s just the bone
Of memory
A shank of habit
Decomposed
Yet another piece of me
A jut of sharp in reverie—

H. I should have told ya the story behind this..I am an insomniac, partly because I have trouble "turning off my head" long enough to fall asleep, and then when I finally do, I have nightmares...this was written about a recurring one I have about stumbling into my own grave and falling onto my own bones. sigh. Even my nightmares are textbook cliche'.

But I thank you, as I wipe the sleep from eyes...grateful for the sleep and your reading...

thanks ethel..it's really not as horrifying as it sounds...after you see a re-run so many times it kind of loses its impact..grinning, but the one where I pick up my own head? now THAT one still startles me!

hugs to you ethel!

Karen, that is some recurring nightmare! How horrible for you!

No wonder you have insomnia! I'd not want to sleep either if I were to have a dream such as this on a regular basis!

I have found that a sound machine has been the answer to my prayers. I now drop off to sleep within a couple of minutes!

~ May your sleeps be restful, rejuvenating and peaceful ~

Teach him how to sing....then lie back,
relax and listen to the soothing words...

What an awesome nightmare! (at least yours has a logical congruity to it)

And what an awesome poem to "shank" it with.
