~Deer~

Sound of crunchy leaves
wild eyed doe runs swiftly
squirrels foraging

~Wind~

skeletal oak trees
lift bony fingers to sky
begging for mercy

~Raccoons~

sneaky intruder
masked thieves break into my house
raiding my cupboards

Cheryl, I love the way you
wrote this. I could almost
feel myself in the cabin
in the woods. Thanks for
sharing your "trip" to the
woods with us, sweet Lady.

Hello Cheryl

I loved the images portrayed through your words.  We don't have raccoons here in Australia but I heard they can be a menace.

Take care....Sue

Sue,
I don't have racoons in Hawaii either, but I lived in the mountains on the mainland for years and years...Those critters would come in through my doggie door and steal dogfood and food stored in my basement as well as ANYTHING shiny!
(all jewelry had to be hidden well)
They were funny and entertaining when they begged for food at my door...
I surely miss fall in the Woods ..

Yeah, that's me!
I enjoyed your poem. I love the woods. I spent most of my childhood exploring them.

Cher,  where do you get all this mainland
scenery from?  I would have figured you
would be spouting about seashells, coconuts
and pineapple....not deer, trees and pesky
little racoons...

BTW....excellently done...
