Envy

Too soon, too soon, the skies will grey,
Don't waste a bit of sunny day.
It is the little joys in life
That balances the woe and strife.

When you have youthfulness and health,
Don't cry that you've been denied wealth.
The time may come when riches reign,
What good are they if you're in pain.

Be thankful for each bright new day,
When you can run and love and play.
Be glad for all that you've been given.
Were it gone, you'd think 'twas Heaven.

The young and robust envy rich
Men, who would be glad to switch
With them and take that glowing youth
And feel the richer, that's the truth.

Yes, Joyce, that's the truth, all right.
There's a lot of widom in this poem.
Thanks for sharing.

Very wise words, Joyce.  And spoken well.  This is a keeper.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
